Be responsible! Remember Drink and Hike!

Pssst… We want to tell you a secret! You know water? Shhh!!! Water, water, you know water? Good. You know it’s important to drink water? Shhh! Yes, drink water, yes, especially during hikes.

Well, maybe it’s not such a big secret. They say most of our body is water (that’s why I don’t like swimming – I’m afraid I’ll get mixed) and water is essential for all living things, but especially essential to all hikers who would like to stay living things.

Remember that your thirst level is not the most accurate indicator of your body’s water level. When planning a big hike, start with drinking around 20 ounces of water, a couple of hours before you start and during the hike you should be gulping around 10 ounces of water to every 15 minutes of sweat. In this way you will compensate on the body’s loss of water. But don’t drink too much all at once, you’ll feel heavy and get cramps.

If you drink during your little adventure, you will prevent icky nausea, fight exhaustion and avoid unnecessary risks like heat stroke.

By the way, at Limitless Adventures, we got plenty of hikes and mountaineering adventures waiting for you and lots of water as well. Liquid if your thirsty, or frozen if you're up to a Colorado ski vacation. All you have to is give us a call and plan your dream adventure vacation today!

How to get a SCUBA certification? Hold your breath

Did you know that SCUBA actually stands for the very-long-hold-your-breath-word: Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. Scuba diving is not much different than driving – mostly because of the license part. So how to get a SCUBA certification?

The scuba DMV is called PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) or SSI (Scuba Schools International), and they want you to learn how to dive like a shark – which means safely and correctly. If you don’t have a certificate or a license card issued by the PADI or SSI no one will rent you gear, give you air or let you dive. If they do – I’d check that air if I was you.

So the first thing to do is to contact an approved PADI instructor and schedule some class time. Yes, scuba certificate requires three steps: class, pool training and diving, and you will need to read a manual, study and have a short exam.

The first diving you’ll do won’t have much of underwater scenery to it. It will mainly contain children swimming from afar and maybe you will get lucky and find a quarter at the bottom of the pool. After the fun pool part you can go on and dive supervised in the open.

Limitless Adventures would like to invite you to join us on a customized SCUBA diving adventure. Whether you're a beginner who wants to get certified and complete your first Open Water dive, or you're an advanced diver looking to further your skills, we take care of everything! Check out www.limitlessadventures.com and explore our best SCUBA destinations: The Great Barrier Reef in Australia, Zanzibar in Tanzania (Indian Ocean), Southern California, and many more.

How to stay safe during a Hiking trip?

Last week we've discussed how to prepare to a hiking trip. So you got the GPS and first-aid kit and a lot of cheerful spirit and you are ready to go! But wait, you think we're done???

How to stay safe during the Hike
  • Don’t wander off alone. Stay in trail so you will be able to get assistance if something happens.
  • Enjoy animals from far. Don’t try to feed wild animals – you might end up as the main course.
  • Keep a steady hiking rhythm that can help you prevent exhaustion and make the hike more enjoyable.
  • Stop to get some rest in regular intervals. 10 minute break for every hiking hour is recommended.
  • Even if the stream looks better than bottled water, don’t be tempted to drink, unless you purify the water first.
  • If you’re planning on camping, make sure you know what the authorities think about it. Some places require a camping permit and it could be illegal to light up a fire in the wilderness.
What to do in case of Emergencies?
  • Be ready for emergencies and stay calm.
  • Contact emergency and rescue services immediately.
  • If you can not contact emergency services, leave the victim with a friend and go back for help.
  • See if the victim is conscious and responsive. Check breathing and make sure his airway is open.
If you’re looking for some professional advice, don’t hesitate to contact www.limitlessadventures.com and ask for more information about mountaineering. If you need help planning, you should know that the experienced staff at Limitless Adventures can take you to some of the most beautiful peaks, anywhere in the world, from the roof Africa on Mt. Kilimanjaro to the 14,000 ft. peaks of Colorado.

Take a Hike! But Stay Safe...

So you are planning to go on a hike this weekend? Whether you're planning a short day hike or an overnight backpacking trip - you should know that follow some basic safety rules.

What can you do in order to be sure you’ll be coming back home healthy and in one piece?
  • Prepare well. Know the hike and take all relevant maps. GPS is great, but even a simple compass can be very important.
  • Take a cell phone but a satellite phone can be more useful in the wilderness.
  • Try to travel with professional and experienced hikers.
  • Be sure you are in proper shape and choose a hike you can handle. Practice. Start to carry a heavy backpack when you engage your daily activities.
  • Check weather forecast and make sure that climate conditions allow safe hiking.
  • Leave early in the morning so you can avoid traveling during the night.
  • Find a recommended gear list online and bring enough food and water. It’s always recommended to take more water than you think you need.
  • Always carry emergency equipment: first-aid kit, whistle, matches and a flash light.
  • But still, carry only the most important essentials. A heavy backpack can make your trip more strenuous and less enjoyable.
Limitless Adventures believes that safety of the group is our #1 priority. And this is just the beginning. Next week we'll discuses the necessary precautions during your hiking adventure. So stay tuned, stay safe and don't forget to enjoy the view!

"Get yourself into an Adventure" A letter from a happy Adventurer

“The Vail trip is what I look forward to every winter. The trip is planned out perfectly. The whole atmosphere screams excitement and our adventures are sensational. I would like to share with you the awesome times I have had with these guys, whether it’s skiing at Vail, skydiving in Longmont, partying on Lake Minnetonka, or jumping Berthoud Pass.

If you're looking for the best time of your life, you’ve come to the right place. You'll ski with current and former U.S. Ski Team members (!) Yeah Sweet! I have always had great times with this crew and Matt is the perfect guide who knows every nook and cranny of Vail Mountain.

They have taught me to be a much better skier and as a result I have found myself jumping off cliffs into deep powder... and surviving! I have also jumped out of a perfectly good airplane and had such a good time doing so, that I decided to get my sky diving license this spring.

If you have ever wanted to do something that you were a little scared to do, or just get yourself into an adventure - you can be sure that it’ll happen on a trip here.”

We're waiting for you to send us a similar letter with your adventure all over it. Visit us at www.limitlessadventures.com and design your dream vacation, anywhere around the world. Whether it’s a long weekend or a 15-day cruise, Limitless Adventures takes care of everything.

This in not less wxtreme, but the problem is - the guys in the next video are not exactly pros...

This next video got more than 2 million views on youtube. Wanna know why? See for yourself:

What should you take on a ski adventure? Turtlenecks, thermal socks, sweater, water repellent pant, wool... or maybe just nothing at all...

And if you thought that something is wrong with these guys, this skier needs some serious help:

If you decide to step out of the office for a week and get yourself on a real ski adventure, visit our website at www.limitlessadventures.com.Limitless Adventures designs, customizes, and promotes safe and fun adventures all over the world! So you think you can Raft?

Rafting is fun, exciting, challenging and mostly a wet experience. Although it involves sitting, rafting is not your regular theme-park thrill-ride as it requires you to be active both in your body and mind.

There are several techniques you need to know before going on a rafting experience. There’s highsiding which basically means that in some dangerous cases you have to move to the high side of the raft so it will not turn over. There’s also keeping the boat in a straight line which requires team work and focus.

Rafting divides into difficulty levels – class I through VI where I is a backyard stream created by a hose and VI is practically impossible. But don’t worry, rafting isn’t that dangerous. There are more accidents in bowling than in rafting and most rafting accidents occur when getting on and off the boat.

Just pick a nice day, put on some comfy clothes, bring lots of water and think about class 5 rapids in the Royal George, located just outside of Canyon City, Colorado.

This is only a part of an action-packed Colorado Adventure Includes Skiing, Climbing, Rafting and Hiking, all with the adventure driven guides of Limitless Adventures. No Fear Adventure Travel Vacations

Fear is probably the number one reason why people keep putting aside an adventure travel vacation that deep down they really want to do. Usually, because of fear their lives are boring, they are stuck inside and afraid to try new things. We definitely don't think we are psychologists, however we do know that fear can hold a lot of people back from trying things they know would be fun.

However, if fear is an issue we strongly suggest you bring someone along. That way you'll have someone familiar close by that can help you get out of your comfort zone. Plus bringing someone along can make the trip more memorable and you can share memories even after your trip is over. Also, if you bring a close friend or significant other, adventure travel can be therapy. The experience will allow you and your partner to bond together.

There are many advantages to grabbing your closets "other" and getting over your fear. Stop watching television and try it yourself. If you are afraid to go out of the country, try adventure travel right here. From a Couch Potato to an Adventure Traveler

Instead of waiting to find out who won I Love Money 2, get off the couch and bring some substance to your life. Adventure travel is a great way for a lifestyle redo that can get you out of your rut and into living the life you always wanted. Here are three reasons why you should start adventure traveling:

1. Adventure travel can help you clear you mind for a new career change.

2. Adventure travel can help you take a break from the stress of society.

A great Colorado ski vacation or a hike through some amazing mountains can help you get away from it all and return rejuvenated.

3. Adventure travel can revive a failing relationship.

Problems at home, separation, or other issues can leave your relationship at a place beyond repair. Taking your significant other on an adventure travel vacation can bring both of you closer together in a way that will save you thousands in counseling services.

How To Pick The Perfect Adventure Travel Trip Part II

Last week we went over the first part of how you can pick the perfect adventure travel trip. Today we'll be going through part of II of helping you pick out the perfect adventure travel trip.

4. Talk to people

Sometimes the best way to make that final decision is to talk to people that have already taken the trip. For example, if you are interested in taking a ski vacation with Limitless Adventure, check out our testimonials page and see how much fun it can actually be:

"The Vail trip is what I look forward to every winter. The trip is planned out perfectly. The gondola is within walking distance, the people are terrific...

The whole atmosphere screams excitement and our adventures are sensational. Matt is the perfect guide who knows every nook and cranny of Vail Mountain. If you're looking for the best time of your life, you’ve come to the right place.

Sincerely,

Robert Domagata"

5. Who's taking me where?

The most important factor of an amazing adventure travel trip is the trip leader who is considered to be your teacher, mother, psychologist, interpreter, and all out friend. This person should live up to these expectations before you put your vacation in their hands.

At Limitless Adventures, each of our trip leaders have some amazing backgrounds. Matt and Jason Saunders are both certified ski coaches, Wilderness First Responders, professional skiiers, plus more.

6. Be Responsible

Lastly, make sure you are prepared to be a responsible visitor no matter where you go. Research to make sure you are comfortable dressing a certain way, being eco-friendly during tours, and prepared to respect local customs and eating regimens.

Now that you have the tips needed to pick out your perfect trip, get started today. How To Pick The Perfect Adventure Travel Trip Part I

Adventure travel trips can be for everyone if everyone takes the time and picks a trip that is perfect for them. Whether it's a Colorado Ski Vacation or and African Safari, here are some tips to help you pick the right trip for you.

1. What is adventure travel anyway?

Don't do something without being fully educated on what it is. In a past post entitled "What is Adventure Travel" we discussed exactly what adventure travel is and expelled some common myths.

2. Where Should I go?

It's definitely a hard choice to decide exactly where to go on your first or next adventure travel. The first step is to decide what part of the world you want to go to? If you are uncertain pick a trip that is popular among other adventure travelers like an African Safari or a Himalayan treck.

3. Am I in shape?

Decide whether or not your body will be able to handle the trip. Everyone assumes that you have to be an Olympian to adventure travel. There are many adventure travel trips that require low to moderate physical activities such as Class II and II river rafting (just hang on!), sea kayaking, skiing, etc...

Next week we'll cover trip leaders, travel practices, and past adventure travelers. And remember, visit our website at http://www.limitlessadventures.com/ Limitless Adventures designs, customizes, and promotes safe and fun adventures all over the world! In addition to skiing we provide other winter activities like skydiving, snowmobiling, hiking/snow shoeing, and much more. Preparing For Adventure Travel

Image by Flickr User burnt out Impurities

So you wanna adventure travel but you want to make sure you are prepared before you take on skiing in Colorado or climbing Mt. Kilmanjaro? No problem! At Limitless Adventure not only do we have some amazing adventure travel options, like a Colorado Ski Vacation or our upcoming Tanzania Adventure, we are a also experts, so we know exactly what's need to get you ready to take the adventure travel challenge.

First, book your adventure travel early and get moving early. Of course follow any pre-trip guidelines but we suggest that you should be doing a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise 3 to 4 times a week for at least 3 months prior to your trip.

Second, your boots were made for walking so get to walking. Walk in your hiking boots way before you get ready to leave. The result of a great worn in hiking shoe is less blisters and a great fit.

Third, go to your doctor. Just to be safe let your family physician know exactly where you headed. Because he or she knows your medical history so well, she'll be able to give you any prescription drugs that you may need just in case.

What Is Adventure Travel?

We get a lot of people that think adventure travel is certain death. Whether is a Colorado ski vacation or an African Safari, adventure travel with Limitless Adventures is not certain death, it's not crazy stunts and psycho instructors who free fall from buildings! With the right company and the right adventure it can be an experience that you and your friends will never forget.

Adventure travel is defined as a type of tourism involving like-minded individuals who explore or travel to remote and exotic areas with professional and full-time leaders. This can include a cultural exchange, time spent with nature, a physical activity or all three.

The truth is you should "expect the unexpected" because you'll not only be out of your comfort zone, but you'll experience people and places like never before. You may travel by ski, foot, safari jeep, canoe, or snowboard.

Another myth of adventure travel is that exceptional physical fitness is a requirement, however that’s not true. You don't have to be an Olympic skier to enjoy the Colorado slopes, however do expect to get sweaty and tired!

Now that we've expelled the myths, for more information, check out our website at http://www.limitlessadventures.com/. Limitless Adventures designs, customizes, and promotes safe and fun adventures all over the world! In addition to skiing we provide other winter activities like skydiving, snowmobiling, hiking/snow shoeing, and much more.
